Wreck It Ralph Family Costume

August 30, 2020

We had so much fun putting together this Wreck it Ralph family costume back in 2014! The movie had released in 2012 and, to be honest, I was not super excited to see it. A kids movie about video games? Boo.

I am SO GLAD that I gave it a chance! I thought the characters and the concept was brilliant and loved every minute! If you have not seen the movie, definitely check it out.

This was another 100% DIY job and so fun to create! Here are some highlights!

How We Made It

  • Wreck it Ralph’s giant hands were actually Incredible Hulk fists covered with flesh-colored spray paint, and he wore overalls from the thrift store.
  • The Vanellope von Schweetz costume was created with a mint green hoodie, a chopped up thick red shoelace we had on hand, a homemade tutu with brown tulle, and the perfect tights that we found in a miracle (too bad those are no longer available!). You could also buy a costume like this cute one.
  • Fix-it Felix, Jr.’s costume was made using a thrift store shirt, blue hat we got online, and felt to make the badges. His tiny golden hammer actually came from a toy toolset we had at the house. We simply spray painted the hammer gold!
  • Sergeant Calhoun was created with a short, blonde wig, a kids muscle costume with the bottom cut off, and some black leggings.
  • Finally, Baby Kami dressed as Taffyta Muttonfudge who looks like a candy strawberry. Baby strawberry costume for the win! (Here is one that is similar.)

Enjoy the cuteness!
